Photographing the beautiful wedding of Whitney and Oliver was a little different for us.

Only in that we didn’t get an opportunity to do a pre wedding shoot with them.  The background is that both of them work in Kinshasa and were only travelling back to the UK a short time prior to the wedding.  All we could fit in was a short meeting to review their timings for the day and a quick chat to work out what they were comfortable with.  We had a little chat about keeping things relaxed and informal and then we left them to plough their way though last minute arrangements.  Small matters of final dress fittings had to be completed a couple of days before the wedding and the fine ladies at Y.A.P Bridal came up trumps.  We had a quick runaround a couple of days before the day to check the various locations they were going to use and then Sheila topped things off by attending the rehearsal on the evening before the big day.  Always well worth doing, just to work out our positions for the day.

Although Oliver is from the North East, Whitney is from Texas so family and friends travelled over to share in the celebrations.  Quite a lot of them!  We started with hair and beauty in Corbridge then left to find the cottage at Newton, taking Dad with us to let us in so we could complete the detail shots before Whitney arrived to get dressed.  Split second timing required and at one point it seemed like every room and bathroom in the place was occupied with someone getting ready.  Fair play to the Bridesmaids though as they were ready in no time and so we managed to fit in the important shots before dashing off the Minsteracres Retreat to meet up with the guys and to squeeze in a few shots prior to the Ceremony starting.  This was partially conducted by Whitney’s father who is a Pastor himself and the rest was in the hands of Father Chad from Oliver’s old college at Ampleforth.  A lovely service.  Then, whilst the guests were whisked away to Healey Barn we completed our group shots at the church in double quick time.  Then another dash to Healey Barn and we decided to go straight into some shots of the couple themselves before they got engulfed by their guests!  That said, Oliver really wanted natural looking images so Sheila and I had a great time just walking around the courtyard capturing people enjoying themselves.  The same during the speeches when we captured some great reactions.  There didn’t seem to be much of a pause before the evening celebrations started with a Ceilidh.  Always good for a laugh!  We just got in the thick of it risking life, limb and expensive cameras to capture the mood and chaos as everyone tried to be in the right place at the right time.  That didn’t happen very often but we did manage to capture the important images!

Here’s a few from the day so let’s know what you think folks.
