Meet Jake
Meet Jake - the new addition to our family
We were so lucky to share our lives with Gyp, our Border Collie for twelve years that it broke our hearts when he left us. It made us realise that we needed another dog in our lives despite the fact that we knew we couldn’t replace him. So we focused on researching Gyp’s line and talking to a lot of people about finding the right puppy. There’s no doubt that it had to be another Collie. It’s just the right breed for our style of life, loving the outdoors as we do. But…. they aren’t always the easiest of dogs to get along with and they need lots of training and attention. Collies are a very intelligent breed and that’s great but it also means that they can be very intelligent about getting into mischief if you don’t keep them busy. We knew we could do that so it didn’t hold any fears for us. We talked to Bob and Alison a lot at Littlethorn Border Collies in Derbyshire. They’re a highly respected couple who love their dogs and are also highly qualified show judges. What they don’t know about this lovely breed isn’t worth bothering about so we went to see them just before Christmas to chat some more and look at their dogs. That was it for us. All the dogs were so well natured and friendly, we were smitten but it meant that we had to wait until the next litter was born in February. We were counting the days down but finally at the start of this week we made the journey down to pick up Jake, our new puppy. It was great seeing the four pups together and this only served to reinforce with us that they really are special dogs. So here’s a few shots from his first days with us. He’s settling in well and training has started. He’s wearing his new collar without any fuss and generally finding his way around, including places we don’t want him to go. He’s like greased lightning so we really need to be on our toes to keep up with him. We’ll keep you posted as he grows

Gorgeous. I feel your loss and I know the depth of your love. So Jake is such a lucky, lucky guy.
I hope that he brings you much joy and know that he will now feel complete.
Remember how much you love him when something moist oozes through your toes as it surely will - lol
Ahh he looks wonderful. I met him and his siblings when he was a baby and I was in England to compete at Crufts and stayed with Bob and Alison for 5 days.
I have a boy from Bob and Alison’s last litter Littlethorn Feet Of Flames, who is now 8 mth old. I also owned Jake’s Grandfather Whenway Decorated Hero (Robbie), who sadly went to the rainbow bridge last September.
Good luck with him. I hope you will keep us updated with photos as he grows up.
Best wishes
