Maternity Shoot with Lisa & Gunther

We were delighted when we were asked to capture this special moment in the lives of Lisa & Gunther

These sessions go under a variety of headings.  “Bump” shoots,  Pregnancy shoots, Maternity shoots, it doesn’t really matter what you call them it’s just lovely to be able to spend some quiet time with a couple who really do cherish this special time together and want to capture it forever.  As photographers we always want to produce something special for the clients and this type of photography just cries out for the careful use of light and shade.  We need to be able to show the beautiful shape of an expectant Mother and to do that we need to interpret the amount and quality of light we want to use.  More on that subject coming in a future Blog post but for the time-being, suffice to say that although we would be using flash and a softbox at some stage, we determined that for the majority of the images we would use the light coming through their South facing window and position Gunther & Lisa in a spot where the light had the quality we wanted.  They were a little nervous at first ( let’s face it - this isn’t an everyday occurrence and this is their first child ) but soon settled down.  They just looked so comfortable.   After that it was a case of chatting Lisa through the shoot and making very slight adjustments to her position to really make the light and shade work for us.   Here’s a few images from the day so let’s know what you think.
