Holiday Time
Taking a break when you are running your own business always feels a bit naughty!
It shouldn’t really but that’s the reality of it. So, to compromise we take a mini office away with us so that we can pretty much do anything we need to when we’re away so that if anything needs our attention, it gets it. We all know that you have to take time off to recharge a bit and we really managed it earlier in the month taking some time off in the Cotswolds and then combining a shoot in Yorkshire with some time in the Dales. We were blessed with great weather and gorgeous scenery and it was great to introduce Jake to some different experiences, not least of which was the Cotswolds Country show held in Cirencester Park. When you are a five month old Border Collie, everything is an adventure but the show just about topped the lot. We expected him to be fussed over and to meet numerous other dogs and he coped well with that. We expected the usual farm animals to be on display so a range of sights and smells were new to him. What we didn’t expect was Lamas, Alpacas, motorcycle display teams and birds of prey. The latter was probably the most daunting as Jake being the inquisitive soul he is got a bit close to an Eagle Owl which took exception to his presence so I think he learned a lesson there! On the plus side he was thoroughly inspected by the TV Vet, Joe Ingles, who pronounced him in first class condition. We knew that anyway!
We spent a lot of time walking the local areas and generally just taking our time and relaxing. Great to just sit in the sun at the end of a walk or have a cooling drink at one of the many country pubs in both the Cotswolds and the Dales. Great to watch Jake look a little tired for a change. It doesn’t happen very often. So at the end of the two weeks it turned out to be just what we needed. Time out to think about the challenges in front of us for the rest of the year in a glorious setting. A good business decision if ever there was one!
Here’s a few images to give you some idea.
