Michael and Alison contacted us to see if we could photograph the clinic for the Christmas edition of Accent magazine
We’ve been working throughout the year with the team at Jesmond Beauty Clinic on different projects so when we were asked to do a Christmas shoot, we leapt at the chance. They really are a great group of people and great fun to work with. There is always a friendly atmosphere in the clinic and the shop is full of really lovely gifts which are always very tempting.
Michael had already drafted an idea for the magazine layout which involved trying to capture the exterior of the shop as it would look on a winters evening. Cold, but cosy and inviting. The shot had to be done in late November to meet the publication deadline so that meant the Christmas tree going up early and Michael performing acrobatics in the shop window in an effort to have everything neatly arranged. He also had to repeatedly wipe the windows down as they were quickly misting up. Never mind, the girls in the clinic kept him on his toes and I was just glad that there was another male present to take the brunt of their humour. Everything done, the models Vikky and Paul arrived. It had of course decided to rain heavily by this point so we had to nip in and out between showers. We’d already worked out lighting using a single video light and the light coming through from the shop window so I think they both expected to be there for a good while. However, we had the main feature shots completed in about ten minutes. The nice touch was the wet pavements which picked up the streetlights beautifully. Our job done, we could retire home to download images but poor Michael had the job of deconstructing his window display before he finished for the day. All in a days work and no rest for the wicked!

Lovely rich colours and love the balance of lighting.
Superb Kenn love the lighting and the saturation of the colours. Well done mate
Kenn, the final shots looked fantastic and worked a treat in the magazine. As ever, it was a real pleasure working with you and Sheila, always relaxed and a good laugh (even when it’s at my expense for window cleaning!). Thought we were going to get soaked at one point but the rain held off just at the right time and, as you mention, the wet pavement just added to the overall cosy feel of the photographs. Got to own up to one thing though - I left the tidying up to Jean and Jen as I had to drive back to Keswick that night.
I was searching for digital photography when I found your site. Good post. Thank You.
