_mg_5158I know we’re on holiday but everybody takes photos on their hols

Two days of skiing and we decided we needed to take it easy.  Ice carving is serious business here and we’re in the middle of the three day icefest.  The challenge to 12 ice sculptors was to create some art in 60 minutes.  They used everything.  Chainsaws, circular saws, ice chisels, hot air blowers and bare hands.  To watch the creations appear from a block of ice was a real joy.  They were all entertainers too so there was a lot going on.  The Canadians being the friendly bunch they are had laid on wine, hot chocolate and  nibbles, bless their cotton socks.  And just to complete the picture, they also provided Firemen and a Mountie - just for Sheila.

We had such a great afternoon and getting up close to a real mountie in full dress uniform was just the icing on the cake! It’s just amazing what they create out of blocks of ice.
